This resource is focused on the brain science of “Allostasis”. This is the way the brain predicts and regulates the things that the human body needs. Whether you will need food, water, salt, temperature change or other certain things, your brain knows before you do. The brain controls the body, and when any of those needs are coming up, the brain will adjust the body and the way you behave to make sure you get what is needed. The part of the brain responsible for this is called the Hypothalamus and it keeps the entire body in sync and ticking like a clock. The brain uses its dopamine reward system to encourage you to learn how to regulate the different things you need (i.e. Food tastes better when you are hungry, sleep feels more fulfilling when you are tired, water is more satisfying when you are thirsty)
