In this mindfulness practice, we ask that you do the following:
People who practice Mindfulness report that everyone has an “inner quiet center” we can connect with and experience a positive sense of self-worth. Three mindfulness skills help us be able to this: 1) Mindful breathing; 2) dismissing negative thoughts; and 3) thinking with compassion, not criticism. As we practice those skills, it helps us calm our brain and put it in tune with the quiet resonance of our body. As we practice taking slow, deep breaths, and “feel within” ourselves, we can begin to feel a subtle inner peace and sense our true, valuable worth.
- Find a quiet place where you can close your eyes.
- Begin Mindful breathing, with full, deep nose breaths. Then begin repeating these focus words:
– Breathing in, think: “I am fair…”– Breathing out, think: “…and find solutions.”
As you breathe out, feel within yourself, and try to connect with an inner quiet sense of peace. Be patient, as it takes time to learn.
Practice this exercise for three minutes each morning and night.
Note: You can also “feel within” anytime you get asked to do questionable things, to get a sense of which choice is right.
