Capture the Towel

What you need:

  • Sheets of paper towels, or dishcloths, or anything else to be used as “tails” (should be approx the length of two pieces of paper)
  • Whistle (or other loud signal)
  • Timer (3 min)

Goal: Collect the most towels.

Instructions:

  1. Unroll three (joined) sheets of a paper towel. Cut it into four long strips forming “tails.” (Or, use dish towels or cloth napkins).
  2. Each person tucks the end of the paper towel strip in the back waist of his or her pants or belt.
  3. Set a timer for three minutes.
  4. At a given signal, family members run, with each trying to capture the towel of another while trying to keep his or her’s safe.
  5. At the end of of three minutes, the person with the most towels wins.
  6.

Additional rules: Family members cannot hide, or move, each other’s balls if found. Doing so is an automatic “out” for that player!

Alternate rules:

  • Hide the balls rather than placing them in sight, to make it a longer, and more strategic game! (Make sure they are low enough for shorter players to still find).
